Pro poker players have a lot to handle to stay at the top of their game, and fall somewhere between professional sportsmen and businessmen.

They succeed in an area where endurance, discipline and skill are paramount, but luck plays a part. But they also often end a day with less capital than they started it with, and so need good money-management skills and the right attitude.

Asked how she coped with the swings, top pro Jennifer Harman replied: ‘When I experience a bad beat, I think of it as overhead.
