Negreanu’s Full Contact Poker site is currently in the final stages of The Protégé promotion. It’s a bit like BBC TV show The Apprentice, but instead of getting a stuffy suit job at the end, you get to play poker with the master.

‘I’m going to give someone the taste of the life. We’re giving away 10 seats online, and they play in a live final. The winner of that will be my Protégé for four months. I’m going to take them on the road with me and put them into four $10,000 buy-in tournaments, give them some spending cash, put them up and teach them everything I know about poker.

They get to keep any prize money. A lot of sites go, “Hey, we’re going to give you a seat at the WPT.” Everyone’s doing that. But you can’t put a price on having a mentor there for you. I’m going to go to the tables and go, “Watch the guy on your left.” Give him all the instruction. I think it will be fun.’

The first Protégé is going to be crowned next month and if it’s a success FCP will repeating it.
